SHAMEELAH KINNEAR

Coach

Shameelah Kinnear aka Shami Shamrock is a Freestyle, Popping and Hip Hop

dancer hailing from Cape Town. She started with musical theatre at the age of

ten but was later drawn to street dance because of the music and deeply rooted

culture around it.

She fondly remembers her first trip overseas in 2012. This experience came

about because she won the first Sprite: Uncontainable competition. Shameelah

went to New York, which she describes as being the birthplace of Hip Hop. 2012

was also a big year because it is the year that Shameelah appeared in her first

international movie called House Party 5.Shameelah can also be seen in Honey

3, released in 2016 as one of the core dancers.

When it comes to finding inspiration for dance, Shameelah finds it in many

things. Her approach is that inspiration is a matter of perspective. Sometimes

other dancers inspire her, sometimes it's her surroundings, but she also draws

a lot of her inspiration from kung fu movies, artists who paint, cartoons, her

mother and especially her nephew. It just depends on where she finds herself

and what she is looking to draw from that experience, but she believes there is

inspiration to be found in all moving things.

Shameelah is a vibrant and energetic dancer who has trained with various

Internationally known dancers such as Kumari Suraj (USA) alongside Melrock

lizzo in 2015 with Popin Pete (USA) Kevie Kev (UK) in various styles. She has

competed both locally and internationally since the inception of her career and

has shared her knowledge with many dancers and still competes and teaches

today.

Shameelah is determined to be successful at everything she tackles and to

learn as much as she can as she goes on her journey as a dancer. Being a source

of inspiration to other dancers and a role model younger people is something

that pushes her to be the best version of herself. Her motto in life is to never

give up and to keep pushing herself for positive change.

CASSIDY BENNETT

Coach

I am dancing for 12 years.
I began with ballet but 5 years later my interest in dance switched to Hip Hop and contemporary dance.
I consider myself someone who likes to try any and all styles of dance in order to fuse them to create something new.
I try to incorporate contemporary with my hip hop especially in break dancing.
I love working with little kids and I would say my dancing is for them because in a lot of ways it inspires them and it unites our community.
